Busy busy bee(nie)
Last week was my first week of full-time work in a year. It seems unbelievable that its been that long since I spent five days in an office, but its true. I’m at it again this week, but this time, I’ll only be in one news room instead of two.
I was very productive:
- Walesa injured in Berlin — Former Polish President Lech Walesa took a stumble after being hit by a cameraman on a Segway.
- Can Copenhagen still be saved? — translation piece from Spiegel Online auf Deutsch.
- Former Nazi charged with 58 deaths of forced Jewish laborers — day-of news I wrote from wire stories.
- Storm warning for North coast — weather story! yaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyy!
- German population heading for massive decline — Germans are old. There are too few German babies.
- Student protests push officials to change — Germany has students who don’t like things about school. Just like everybody else.
- Fraud scam forces banks to recall millions of cards — Germany’s credit cards are under attack by the Spaniards!
- Werner Herzog to head Berlin’s film fest jury — In which I looked like a bit of a dolt to my editor when discussing one of his films. My dumb-blonde moment is certainly not in the article.
- Sandmann turns 50 — the favoured story-tell of Germany gets to celebrate 50 years on the air.
- Police busting body building dope dealers — Exactly what the headline says. This was one of those stories that I cursed not being able to do an interview in English. What I really wanted to ask “Were they fucking HUGE?!?!”
- Turks: German government must do more for immigrants — Turkish survey that I was lucky enough to actually report on twice!
- Germans likely to play Grinch at Christmas — Germans want to spend less on presents this year, but they will have to spend more on the Christmas tree to put them under.
- ‘Who?’ for president, ‘I don’t know’ for foreign minister — translation of a German Spiegel Online piece of the new heads of the EU.
- Not at Home in Germany — story with translations on a survey showing Turkish people in Germany don’t feel like Germans.
Yup. Five days, 14 stories.
-
doodling my assignments for this week didn’t raise my motivation to do them.
